Fuji Sekai 2.0 BJJ Gi Review [2022]

Fuji Sekai 2.0 Review: A Household Name Gi

The Fuji Brand was founded in 1969 and since then, has been a reliable name in the martial arts kimono industry. It is without a shred of doubt that we say they know their stuff. Initially, they entered the market as a judo brand, and that’s what earned them their name and fame. However, with time, their business expanded for the better. They now produce durable, affordable, and top-notch jiu-jitsu gi’s.

Their Fuji Victory Single Weave became a signature product and best-seller of their brand. It would be hard to walk into any BJJ academy and not spot at least a few of those.

Fuji Brand’s first attempt at making high-end gi’s for the market came in the form of Fuji Sekai. It saw instant success, especially in competitions.

Unlike some other companies that focused solely on the weight of the ultralight and light gi’s, Fuji had different plans. They didn’t want to settle for simply a light gi. Instead, they came up with the Sekai – a gi that’s the perfect combination of lightness and durability. Combining longevity, comfort, and an eye for detail, the Sekai truly has no match in the market.

But can the Sekai 2.0 fill the very large shoes? This Fuji Sekai 2.0 review has the answers.

Fuji Sports Overview

Fuji Sports is a leading brand in the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu market. They offer high-quality BJJ and Judo no-gi, gi, and gear, and some of the biggest names in the industry represent them. Together with Hatashita Sports, Fuji Sports was founded in 8 June, 1969. The founder, Frank Hatashita was the President of the Pan American Judo Federation, and the Vice-President of the IJF (International Judo Federation). Other notable positions include an IJF referee, owners of multiple dojo and more.

According to the brand, they skip out on the glitz and glam. Bling bling isn’t their thing. They believe in plain top-notch gear at competitive prices.

They sell a wide range of products for men and women of all ages. Apart from the sportswear, they also stock hoodies, shirts, spats, and shorts. You can also shop for kids from Fuji – their range is quite impressive.

From Fuji Sekai to Fuji Sekai 2.0

The Sekai was pretty amazing in itself. But how could a brand stay relevant if it wasn’t constantly developing, reimagining itself? The Fuji Sekai 2.0 was equipped with all the features that made the original unforgettable – the high-quality construction, unparalleled durability, and clever design.

The first model came with a gigantic rubberized world map printed on the inner side of the rash guard, directly linked to the word “Sekai.” This unique embellishment was an homage to the Japanese word for “world” which is, you guessed it: Sekai.

And although their intentions were great, they received some negative reviews about that decision. People found that the texture could occasionally irritate the skin. So, as a development, the Sekai 2.0 featured the world map on the soft shoulder lining.

In addition, Fuji also revamped the aesthetics of Sekai but chose to stay true to their first model. The entire time, their products always had a classic, elegant vibe. They removed the clunky “Sekai” embroidery from the shoulders and added a charming vertical Sekai patch going down the spine. There’s also a matching patch on the upper right-hand sleeve. You will find the quintessential Fuji Kilimanjrao logo in big fonts over the left part of the chest. Moreover, the logo is present in the wrist area of the left sleeve too, but with colors that aren’t as contrasting, you might not see it very well.

Design/Aesthetics

The Sekai 2.5 is available in six different colors: blue, brown, white, purple, black with red accents, and black with grey accents. Branding patches can be found along the shoulders and biceps. Also, a detailed picture of the world map is printed across the body of the rash guard.

Similar to most gi’s from Fuji, the Sekai aesthetics are understated yet pleasing. One would really appreciate the design of Sekai if they liked the simpler, cleaner approach. Plus, since the graphics are sublimated, they will never peel, fade, or crack.

Comfort/Fit

Customer reviews of Sekai have claimed that the fabric feels soft and light against their skin, barely feeling like a rash guard. Compression fits are harder to perfect since you want the support but you don’t want it sticking to your body. To maximize comfort, Fuji has added soft underarm panels. This will prevent your body from overheating after it’s taken in too much warmth. On top of that, the fabric is microbial. Sweat buildup feeds various germs and bacteria, causing you to get sick. Well, this rash guard will fight the harmful microbes that cause sweat and odor.

Durability

Given how the rash guard features a compression fit and was from Fuji, we knew it wouldn’t face too many issues with durability. Multiple rows of fabric reinforcements and stitching can be found in the pressure zones like armpits, chests, shoulders, cuffs, and waistbands. Sekai is definitely one of the more well-reinforced gi’s in today’s market.

Close to zero reviewers have discussed “Sekai ripping”. However, thanks to the large portions of reinforcements, the material lasts much longer and provides great performance. It is arguably one of the best-made rash guards on today’s market.

Cleaning and Maintenance

The Fuji Sekai 2.0 is machine washable. A lot of times, these delicate fabrics can’t be put into the washing machine. However, since the sublimated graphics prevent peeling and the fabric of choice is great, there’s no problem. After a machine wash, you have to hang them out to dry.

Bottom Line

That draws the line on this Fuji Sekai 2.0 review. After careful evaluation, we have found that this rashguard is definitely one of the superior ones in the market. A combination of great fabric and intricate seams makes it the top choice.

Adidas BJJ Gi Review: How Good Are They?

Adidas is a world-class brand of sportswear. They have everything. From sports gear to sports shoes to casual shoes. They are arguably the biggest sports brand in the world.

It was no surprise to see them manufacture gis for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as one of the biggest sports brands.

Adidas has launched many unique gis in the market. Some are made for karate while others are made for BJJ. The Adidas New Contest 2.0 BJJ GI and the Adidas New Challenge 2.0 BJJ GI are the best-selling gis of Adidas. So today we are going to review these two gis.

Jump to Section

About Adidas

Before we start our review, here is a short introduction to Adidas.

Adidas is a German company, but now it is a global sports brand. It was established in 1949. The brand had its ups and downs. Made a lot of rivals including Puma. But now it has established itself as a world-class sports brand.

Adidas sports products are made with passion. Their products are tested and perfected by engineers and sports experts.

From here you can guess that the gis manufactured by Adidas are made with the expert advise and touch of BJJ experts.

Adidas New Contest 2.0 BJJ GI

Adidas New Contest 2.0 BJJ GI

The Adidas New Contest 2.0 BJJ GI is a very sporty-looking gi. It has a fresh look to it. If you are looking for something fashionable to wear in your IBJJF fight then you should put this gi in your list.

Yes, this gi is IBJJF approved. So no need to worry about buying another set. This gi also comes with a reinforced design in the chest, back, and other stress parts.

The Adidas New Contest 2.0 BJJ GI is made with the finest material. It will last for a long time, even after intense fighting and sparring sessions with it.

Features of Adidas New Contest 2.0 BJJ GI

Now let us get a little technical about the Adidas New Contest 2.0 BJJ GI. We will be talking about its material, quality, design, and other aspects.

Material

The material used in the Adidas New Contest 2.0 BJJ GI is 100% cotton. It is processed with Adi-weave technology. Cotton is a very comfortable choice for crafting a gi. Lighters will feel very comfortable in it.

But in hot weather and intense long fights, the gi will become sweaty. This may create an uncomfortable experience for the fighter.

Besides that, this gi is all good.

Quality

Speaking of quality, this Adidas New Contest 2.0 BJJ GI hits all the checkboxes. Durability? Yes. Reinforced tailoring? Yes. Longevity? Yes.

The material used in the gi is 100% cotton. It was processed with adi-weave technology. The jacket of the gi has reinforced stitching in the chest and upper back. The interior is multi-paneled. But the mid and lower back is a single panel fabric, this gives you more comfort.

Design

The design of this gi is sporty. It got the green thumb of IBJJF. The gi is available in two colors. Black and white. The jacket of this gi features Adidas’s classic three stripes. The trousers/ pants also have three stripes in their hip area.

In the black color set, the strips are colored yellow and in the white color set, the stripes are red.

Adidas also stitched its logo in the front and back of the gi. On the front, the logo is big and located under the jacket buckle. In the back, there is a small logo under the collar.

So the Adidas New Contest 2.0 BJJ GI has a nice sense of fashion and branding in it.

Fitting

The Adidas New Contest 2.0 BJJ GI is one step ahead of other gis in the fitting. Most of the BJJ gis have one problem: They shrink in size after the first wash. That makes them uncomfortable to wear after the wash.

But the Adidas New Contest 2.0 BJJ GI uses pre-shrunk fabric. So there will be no shrink in size after the first wash. That way you can wear and wash your Adidas New Contest 2.0 BJJ GI for years.

Comfort

The material used in this Adidas New Contest 2.0 BJJ GI is 100% cotton. So the fighter will feel much more comfortable in it.

But in hot weather, it may become uncomfortable to sweat. The cotton will soak the sweat and become wet and heavy.

So that is all about the Adidas New Contest 2.0 BJJ GI. Overall it is a great gig for BJJ. Now let us talk about the Adidas New Challenge 2.0 BJJ GI.

Adidas New Challenge 2.0 BJJ GI

Check Price on Amazon

The Adidas New Challenge 2.0 BJJ GI is a scaled-down version of the Adidas New Contest 2.0 BJJ GI. It does not have the well-appreciated sporty look of the New Contest 2.0. What is the reason for such a design? To make it affordable.

The Adidas New Challenge 2.0 BJJ GI costs less than the Adidas New Contest 2.0 BJJ GI. Besides the look, it has almost the same properties as the Adidas New Contest 2.0 BJJ GI.

But it does come with some downsides and user dissatisfactions. Why don’t we do the same technical analysis for this gi as we did for the last one? That way the difference will be more clear.

Features of Adidas New Challenge 2.0 BJJ GI

So just like the Adidas New Challenge 2.0 BJJ GI technical analysis, we will analyze the material, quality, design, and other aspects of the Adidas New Challenge 2.0 BJJ GI.

Material

The Adidas New Challenge 2.0 BJJ GI is made with 100% cotton. It is supple cotton, which is soft and comfortable. It is also very breathable and fighters appreciate a breathable gi.

The jacket only weighs 350 grams, which makes it one of the most lightweight gi jackets.

It will deliver maximum comfort but in hot weather, it will get sweaty. Sweaty gi is very uncomfortable to wear and fight with. So you should keep that into consideration.

Quality

The quality of the Adidas New Challenge 2.0 BJJ GI is almost the same as the Adidas New Contest 2.0 BJJ GI. It is reinforced, durable, and designed to last for a long time.

The chest is multilayered and reinforced. The upper back and the pants are also reinforced. The middle and lower back is a single panel fabric.

So overall it is the same. But the pants are different. When it gets sweaty, it becomes slightly see-through. So you should keep that into consideration.

Design

The design of this gi is where the difference becomes clear. There is no iconic 3-stripe design of Adidas in it. It is just a plain color gi. The left shoulder has the Adidas logo stitched. That’s all the design.

This gi comes in two colors. Black and white.

Fitting

The Adidas New Challenge 2.0 BJJ GI is made with pre-shrunk fabric. So fitting will not be an issue even after washing. Just follow the Adidas gi size chart and pick the right one.

Wash it, use it and it will last for years.

Comfort

The gi is very comfortable with its cotton design. It is highly breathable. So hot weather would not be much of a problem.

But if you get sweaty, it may become uncomfortable for you. What’s worse is that the pants become see-through (if you choose white).

So that is all about the Adidas New Challenge 2.0 BJJ GI. It is less likable than the Adidas New Contest 2.0 BJJ GI.

Conclusion

Both these Adidas BJJ gis are very unique. Especially the pre-shrunk fabric wins it all. They are IBJJF approved. You can wear them for fighting and sparring. Now, which one should you choose?

If you are on a budget, then choose the Adidas New Challenge 2.0 BJJ GI. If money is no issue, then choose the Adidas New Contest 2.0 BJJ GI.

FUJI Suparaito BJJ Gi Review – Key Features

  • It’s constructed from a 350 GSM Premium Cotton Fabric
  • It has a lightweight pearl weave BJJ Gi jacket or kimono
  • The cotton blend trousers are triple reinforced for protection
  • The bungee cord drawstring provides security against mishaps
  • The contrasting stitching results in an attractive outlook
  • It’s certified by the IBJJF competition

Design

FUJI likes to keep things simple. The brand is seen to stick with the classic and original designs. You’ll find that in the Fuji Suparaito BJJ Gi too. Other brands try to amp up the design by adding a touch of color here and there. Sometimes, the best way is to keep it simple. FUJI knows that too.

FUJI Suparaito Gi sports a simple design. You’ll find the classic lettering is embroidered on the sleeves. This lettered embroidery can be found on the right trousers too. At the lower leg. The Suparaito logo is on the bottom edge of the kimono.

Suparaito also comes in both English and Japanese characters. So that’s a nice touch! Overall, it’s aesthetically pleasing despite a simple approach. They’re not overcompensating by adding unnecessary pomp. It’s simple yet stylish. You can’t go wrong with it!

Material

Did you know Suparaito translates to super light in Japanese? That ought to tell you it’s the real deal. Everything about this Fuji Suparaito BJJ Gi caters to comfort. This BJJ Gi is constructed from 350 GSM of premium quality cotton. The brand designed this to make you feel free. They don’t want the weight of a traditional uniform to constrict you.

The pearl weave, lightweight design makes it an ideal summer Gi. It’s extremely breathable too. So, you can easily wear this in intense training sessions in the hot weather. The material is super soft to touch too. One thing you should know is that this Gi is pretty snug. It doesn’t stretch a lot. This might not appeal to new martial artists who find it difficult to tackle opponents.

The trousers are a mixture of ripstop and cotton. There are extra reinforcements in the kneepads. Rest assured, they can take the punishment. The bungee cord drawstrings are a plus too. The trousers have four belt loops to provide added security. So, you know it’ll be a comfortable fit even in the toughest tumble.

Colors

You’ll find the FUJI Suparaito Gi in traditional BJJ Gi colors. This outfit can be found in white, blue, military green, or black. The all-new stealth black is an attractive addition. The blue one features some neon stitching too. That adds a pop of color. Overall, the FUJI Suparaito has a professional and premium vibe. Also, the colors are approved by the IBJJF!

Potential Drawbacks

The FUJI Suparaito BJJ Gi is superior in many aspects. It’s no wonder that it’s such a highly desirable product. However, there are some minor drawbacks you should consider before making your purchase. These don’t show up until later. One of the biggest drawbacks are witnessed after a few washes.

Like most cotton materials, the FUJI Suparaito BJJ Gi tends to shrink. However, the difference is minuscule. There’s minimal shrinkage compared to other BJJ Gis. That’s enough reason to make the purchase. Especially since it sports a pearl weave. Most other lightweight designs can’t boast the same benefits.

The pants tend to fray around the seams too. This isn’t an uncommon phenomenon in lightweight Gis. You’ll find this no matter what brand or weave you’re wearing. However, it all comes down to how well you’re maintaining your Gis. You can always carefully wash them by hand to avoid these problems.

The final issue might not be an issue for some. It comes in the form of low elasticity. Now some fighters prefer this. This warning is for those who don’t. It’s not easy to tug onto which is a definite plus in fights. Your opponent or training partner won’t know how to grab you during fights. This way, you avoid the nastier techniques!

What Makes a Great BJJ Gi

Here, you’ll learn about the factors that make Fuji Suparaito Gi such a great Gi. It’s not just about the color and style. There’s so much more. Let’s dive in.

Weave Type

A seasoned martial artist will know what to look at first and that is it. The right weave will result in a Gi that’s lightweight, rigid, and breathable at the same time. There are primarily three weave types.

Single Weave (Best Budget)

This is the least expensive material you can find in BJJ Gis. It’s ideal for hot, humid weather. However, since it’s a thinner material, your opponents can grab onto it easily. This is the ideal choice for beginners as it’s comfortable and breathable. You can ease into training.

Double Weave (Best Durability)

The name already explains it. It’s exactly how it is. This weave is popular due to its durability and density. Since it’s heavier, it’s harder to hold onto. So your opponents won’t get to you easily. However, it retains a lot of heat. Avoid training in hard weather.

Pearl Weave (Best for Value)

This is what makes a lightweight yet durable Gi. It’s similar to a single weave but stronger. It’s soft against your skin and promotes airflow. Another benefit? It has a tight weave that prevents shrinkage. So you know it’s going to last you a long time. This is the material used in Fuji Suparaito Gi.

Size and Style

BJJ Gis tend to come in a range of different sizes starting from A0 to A6. However, that’s the generic chart. Each company has its take. There are primarily two styles- fitted cut and classic cut.

Fitted Cut BJJ Gi

This is perfect for slimmer or smaller body types. These cuts make it hard for your opponent to hold onto. They help you move easily so you can evade their clutches with ease.

Classic Cut BJJ Gi

This is favored by most brands and comes in a variety of weaves. If you wish more room for movement, this is for you. You’ll find this style in every brand because you can’t go wrong with the classics, right?

Colors

Your take on fashion is personal. Some people prefer vibrant colors while others opt for traditional ones. However, sticking to the classic colors seems like the best choice. You can’t go wrong with neutral colors. The IBJJF legal colors are limited to white, blue, and black too. Fuji Suparaito Gi offers the same ones!

Final Thoughts

As mentioned earlier, FUJI is no stranger when it comes to making quality BJJ equipment and wear. Everything they make is of premium quality. Including BJJ mats and rash guards, but especially BJJ Gis. You can tell from this Fuji Suparaito Gi Review. They go all out with this.

The Fuji Suparaito BJJ Gi is lightweight, comfortable, breathable, and stylish. What’s not to like? It’s a phenomenal design. You’ll find everything you need in a BJJ Gi here. It’s one of the most desirable Gis in the martial arts industry. That’s why it comes with a pretty price tag. However, it’s worth the investment.

You’ll love wearing this on a summer day. Especially during intense or combative training sessions. It’s an ideal outfit for competitions as well. The Gi doesn’t add too much weight. You can be agile and master your guard passes. Your opponents won’t know what hit them!

So, invest in the Fuji Suparaito Gi for a worthwhile companion in your BJJ journey. It has triple-reinforced stitching so you know it’ll stick around for a while. Overall, it’s an excellent choice. Professional and chic. Just go for it!

Fuji is one of the best brands for BJJ and MMA sports gear. They have the best sports gear in the market and have won the trust of fighters all around the world.

One of their top-selling gi is the Fuji All Around Gi. It is the best gi produced by Fuji yet.

In this review of the Fuji All Around Gi, we will talk about this gi from a technical perspective. We will talk about the gi’s material, quality, sizing, and fighting, design, and comfort. We will also judge its price in comparison to its features. So let us start the review.

About Fuji

Before we start reviewing the gi, it’s best that you must know some basic insight about its brand.

Fuji Sports was founded by Hatashita back in 1969. Hatashita was a professional in martial arts. Hence, he knew everything about the sport. The brand is currently led by Lia Hatashita and Jimmy Pedro.

Jimmy Pedro brings his visionary sportsmanship to the work of manufacturing sports gear. He utilized his fast-hand experience in making the Fuji gis. This is what makes the Fuji gis more competitive and fitting for all fighters.

Currently, Fuji is manufacturing all types of martial arts gear. From BJJ (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu) Gis to Muay Thai rash guards. These Fui products go through intense testing sessions before approved for mass production. This way, Fuji finds the perfect balance of comfort and durability in their gis. Their gears are well-suited for all-class fighters. Students and even international fighters can use their fighting gear with ease.

Now let us talk about the Fuji All Around Gi.

The Fuji All Around Gi

The Fuji All Around is Fuji’s best gi yet. It provides the fighter comfort, durability. The gi can last for a long time and would not tear up.

It is not the branding of the Fuji All Around gi. There are some good reasons why it is the official Gi of Travis Stevens. Travis Stevens is a BJJ Blackbelt, and Olympic Medalist.

Many BJJ organizations around the world have shown their green signs to this gi. It is also certified by the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF).

It is constructed with Fuji’s premium blend cotton and has other durable features. All these features combined will deliver the most comfort a fighter can expect.

Now let us get more technical with this gi review.

Features of The Fuji All Around Gi

We will talk about the following aspects of the Fuji gi.

Material, quality, sizing, and fighting, design, comfort, and pricing.

Materials

The Gi is made with comfortable cotton fabric. The jacket and the pants both have a 100% cotton blend. No polyester or other fabric is found in this gi.

The cotton fabric is weaved in a twill weave design. As a result, the gi is very strong and also medium dense for the convenience of the player.

The collar of the Gi jacket is lightly rubberized. The jacket has a triple scratch seam for durability and stretch.

So, the material choice of this gi is good. It’s comfortable and durable. But, there is one downside of this cotton material. It will not dry fast. So in an intense fight or hot weather, the Fuji All around gi can become very sweaty and uncomfortable. It will also become very heavy when it gets soaked with your sweat.

Quality

When judging the quality of the Fui All Around Gi, there is nothing to complain about. It has premium cotton fabric construction. The twill weave of this makes it heavier and durable.

Many fighters have a high value for this gi for its durability.

Even after months of intense use, the gi is still in shape and ready for more intense rounds.

The jacket takes this quality level one step further with triple-stitched seams.

Unlike other BJJ gis, this Fui gi is reinforced in high-stress areas with multilayer constructions. The armpits and other stress areas are lined with cotton reinforcements.

The pants don’t lack in quality either. Apart from the premium cotton blend construction, it comes with a reinforced knee, ankle, and crotch.

So overall, the quality and durability of this Fui gi are up to the standards for international BJJ fights.

Sizing

The Fuji All Around gi has a very good fitting for every size. The available sizes of this gi are A0, A1, A2, A2L, A2H, A3, A3L, A3H, A4, A5, and A6.

If you need more details for picking the right side, then you can get access to a more detailed Fuji gi sizing chart. That chart includes height, weight, jacket, and pant length.

Although the fighting is great compared to its size, it could shrink from washing. It is made of 100% cotton. Fuji recommends you wash their gis with cold water and air dry them. They strongly advise not to bleach their gis. According to them, if you follow this washing method, the gi will shrink by 1 inch in every dimension.

So, when you are picking a Fui gi, you should keep it in mind. If you are not finding the perfect fit for you and are stuck in between two sizes, choose the bigger one. After washing, it will shrink and fit into your size.

Design

The design of this Fuji all-around gi is simple and plain. It will give the fighters a fresh and clean look.

The color of the gi is one color, which is certified and approved for BJJ fights. So no need to worry about getting an extra set of gi for your fights. The available colors for this gi are white, black, blue and for women, pink.

The Fuji all-around gi comes on top for its pant closure design. Unlike other rope closure gi pants, this gi features a drawstring closure. The drawstring closure is quicker and easier to use.

However, one drawback of this gi design is the number of belt loops. It becomes loose during fights, so make sure you have buckled it up real tight.

Comfort

As we said earlier, the Fuji All Around gi is made out of 100% cotton. Cotton clothes are very comfortable. The jacket and pants, both are made of cotton, you will have no compromise in comfort.

However, the cotton build of this gif makes it not a great choice for hot weather and sweaty fights. The cotton will absorb your sweat and the gi will become heavy and uncomfortable.

But if you don’t mind the sweat, then this gi will be very comfortable for you.

Pricing

As an entry-level gi, the Fuji All Around Gi is too expensive. But if you judge by its quality and durability, you can easily understand why it has such a high price tag.

The gi stays in shape after months of intense fighting. It does not need much washing and the durable cotton design is backed up with reinforced stitchings in stress parts. Moreover, you can fight in BJJ fights with this gi.

So, we think that the price tag of this gi is well on spot.

Pros

  • 100% cotton material
  • Very comfortable
  • Perfect sizing
  • Reinforced design and a rubberized collar
  • Certified for BJJ fights

Cons

  • Washing will cause the fabric to shrink
  • Fewer belt loops in the pants
  • Can get sweaty and hot

Check Price on Amazon

Conclusion

So, is the Fuji All Around Gi a good gi? Yes, it is. Although it is an entry-level gi, it is used by many IBJJF fighters and it is now the official gi of Travis Stevens, a BJJ Blackbelt.

The gi has everything, durable and comfortable material, plain design, and reinforced stitching. It can last for a long time, even years of intense fighting. It is washable but in cold water. The only downside in our eye is its shrinking fabric and lack of belt loops. One other drawback could be the cotton fabric, which is not an ideal choice in hot weather. But if you are looking for a good gi, then there is something that you must compromise on.

So overall, the Fui All Around Gi is perfect for all BJJ fighters and it is priced well too.

Minimalism at its finest, the Gold BJJ Gi is definitely one of the best looking BJJ Gis you’ll find on the market. The Gi comes in four clean colors where the white and black are IBJJF approved. We particularly love the grey one because it has a hint of color but it’s muted enough to not call for too much attention. There’s the brand’s signature “G” logo on the upper side of the left arm and that’s all about the design. There are long stiches going down the hem of the pants that look quite nice and similar ones across the chest. There are two other logos/writing on the pant but they don’t take away anything from the aesthetics.

Pros:

  • Light and breathable fabric
  • Gold weave construction
  • Reinforced stitching across the body
  • Four colors to pick from

Cons:

  • Expensive

Hayabusa Lightweight Jiu Jitsu Gi

If you want to feel like a true BJJ master, this Gi might just make you feel like one! At the top the fabric is cotton, whereas at the bottom the fabric is a blend of cotton and polyester. Two plastic pads with the word “Hayabusa” is stitched across the shoulders. Although, you might think it’s too flashy, but it’s not that noticeable. Thinner strips of the same plastic pads go across the hem of the top while the Hayabusa pad returns for the pants, stuck on the sides. There’s their brand’s logo on the left portion of the chest area- a bird with broad stripes across it. Overall, just a standard looking Gi that achieves what it was made for.

Pros:

  • Sophisticated design
  • Huge range of colors to choose from
  • Doesn’t bleed color
  • Good fabric

Cons:

  • Not true to size

SENSO JIU JITSU Aizome Blue BJJ Gi

If you’re someone who is bored of the conventional BJJ Gi and the “plain” and “generic” designs and patterns, the SENSO JIU JITSU Aizome gi is definitely the one for you. With a unique design and elegant color selection, the Gi definitely sets itself apart from the rest.

On the blue fabric, the stitching is done with white thread which looks quite good. Unlike the other brands that try to be a bit more conservative with their logo, Senso indents themselves in block letters in a Y shaped pattern across the chest. There are also those typical name pads on both upper sides of the arm region and the small bit of pad attached on the edge. Five claw-shaped marks come in a little close near the waist, which we can only assume was there to give you a more cinched look. The pants feature parallel stitching from the thighs to the knees.

Pros:

  • Unique design
  • Great color selection
  • Fabric doesn’t shrink
  • Slim fit reinforced knee pads

Cons:

  • The “Senso” logo might be a bit all over the place for some

Fuji – 5703- Suparaito BJJ Gi

Fuji – 5703- Suparaito BJJ Gi

The Fuji Suparaito BJJ Gi does look like most other Gis on the market, but the small details make it stand apart from the crowd.

Like the SENSO, this one features white stitching over the black body and they go in two circular rounds around the neck. A simple FUJI logo is printed on the upper left side of the arm in white. One more logo, this time resembling a wave is printed on the bottom left corner of the jacket and the typical round of the logo along the ends of the top. The pants are kept super simple; few long lines of stiches and a medium sized logo on the bottom right side of the pants.  There’s a pretty distracting tag behind the neck but that’s not noticeable.

Pros:

  • Standard design
  • IBJJF, NABJJF, and UAEJJF approved
  • Stiff color design for durability
  • Super lightweight

Cons:

  • Expensive

Venum Contender 2.0 BJJ Gi

We’re just going to go ahead and say it – the Venum Contender 2.0 BJJ Gi looks cool. That’s it. There’s nothing much going on and the color selection is basic, but the Gi looks amazing on the body.

There are five colors to choose from – black, blue, navy blue, grey, and white. White is our personal favorite. The word “Venum” is printed along the left side of the neckline in a very gothic, calligraphic font. There’s a design that vividly reminds us of the alien’s mask from the movie Battleship. Don’t worry, it looks super cool! On white, the designs are colored black and the black jacket has everything similar with an off-white accent. Additionally, there’s one last piece of Venum logo at the edge of the jacket that you would find in any other Gi.

Pros:

  • EVA foam soft collar
  • Classy color combinations
  • Not too distracting designs
  • Flexible

Cons:

  • Not as durable as others on the list

The Vector Sports BJJ Gi is a unisex option that impresses with the color selections and accent choices.

There are five options to pick from: white, black, navy, grey, and blue. We particularly love the navy and the black. On the upper left side of the chest, there’s a unique “V” logo. The navy-blue jacket features baby blue stitching across the chest, on the collar, across the waist, and cuffs. The black jacket comes with red accents on the stitching but a plain white “V”. All the belts are black with small plastic tips with the word “vector” embossed. Comfort has been made a primary concern too and the fabric is 100% cotton that’s been preshrunk so you don’t face size issues.

Pros:

  • Easy to wash
  • Reinforced stitching in pressure points
  • Great color selection
  • IBJJF approved

Cons:

  • The fabric is quite thin

Fuji always comes out with some of the best Gis that don’t skim out on style. For the ones who love simpler designs, Fuji products will be your top choice.

There’s a woven die cut FUJI patch on the collar; white over the otherwise black jacket. In accordance with their brand, there’s an illustration of Mount Fujiyama on the left side of the back and bicep region of the right hand. We didn’t like the orange patch of color on the full black belt but that’s not that distracting. A white lining runs across the edges.

Pros:

  • Good fabric and construction
  • IBJJF, NABJJF, and UAEJJF approved
  • Remarkable fit

Cons:

  • On the pricey side

Okay, enough of patches! What do you do when you want something completely blank – no logos, no patches? Well, the Your Jiu Jitsu gear is here to be yours!

The 350 fabric is super lightweight devoid of any brand advertising. The brand doesn’t believe in making you a free billboard to advertise their products and we can totally respect that. Some brands do go overboard with the patches, and if that annoys you, then why not this? A completely customizable Gi that’s comfortable and soft. There’s one tiny patch on the leggings but that’s it. You can decide whether you want patches on to support your school. Some schools won’t appreciate you wearing jackets with too many logos on it. Solid colors, reinforced stitching, and amazing fitting earns this Gi a mention on our list for best looking BJJ Gi.

Pros:

  • Customizable design
  • Tons of size options
  • Great value for money
  • Well-made

Cons:

  • Heavier against the skin

Bottom Line

Regardless of which one you go for, these BJJ Gis will make you feel and look the very best. Of course, colors are a big part of the selection and you have to prioritize practicality over everything else, but there are options where you’ll get the best of both worlds. But hey! Style is totally a personal thing. So, if you like something that’s flashy, kind of in-your-face, or something with nothing at all, go for it! Train hard with the best BJJ Gi on!
