The material used in this gi is pearl weave cotton. It is rated 475 gsm. The jacket is only constructed with this material. The pants are constructed with 9oz twill weave cotton.

Both of these are good choices for making a lightweight and durable gi. The Tatami Zero G V4 gi has them both.

The jacket has a nice texture to it. Even though it is a budget gi, you will find some premium feel into it.

Quality

You can easily counter it by a chain a bigger size gi. After washing, that gi will shrink and fit into your size. We would suggest you buy one size bigger, even if in-between sizes are available.

So choose one size bigger and you will have no issue with the shrinkage.

Design

The design of this gi is very attractive, It is IBJJF approved. The gi is available in two colors. Black and white. Both of them have the same visuals.

The visual elements are two Tatami logos on both shoulders. That creates an iconic look. 

Then there is a small Tatami logo in the back.

There is one Zero-G branding in the right hip and one Tatami branding in the left thigh. Overall, it creates a minimal, yet iconic design.

The cut of the jacket is square. This creates a baggy feeling, which is kind of not appreciated. So that is another compromise of this budget-friendly gi.

Comfort

We think that the material of the Tatami Zero G V4 Gi says enough about its comfort. The jacket is made using pearl weave cotton. It is lightweight and super breathable. So, on the top side, you will have no discomfort. Not even in hot summer and intense fighting sessions.

The pants are made with twill cotton fabric. It is slightly less breathable than the jacket’s pearl cotton fabric. But it delivers good comfort.

Both the jacket and pants of this gi are cotton. So, you will not feel any lack of comfort. However, it will get soaked up in your sweat and create a wet towel feeling. We all know how irritating that is.

The price of this Tatami Zero G V4 Gi is less than $150. It is more near the $100 range, just a little above.

In terms of build, Kingz BJJ Gi’s tend to have a 450 GSM or 480 GSM cotton Pearl Weave jacket reinforced in the main stress points. The polyester ripstop pants make for an overall sturdy fit.

Before we started the Kingz Balistico 3.0 review, we thought it was only fair we introduced you to the Gi that paved the way for the revamp. The Balistico 2.0 was made to perform; no wonder it is the Gi of choice for names like Bruno Malfacine and Leandro Lo.

Firstly, the jacket features a 480 GSM cotton Pearl Weave that’s light enough for competitions but durable enough to last you a while. Since this is Chinese pearl weave and not one from Pakistan, the jacket boasts additional texture and structure. It tends to trap more body heat as the fabric is still heavier than ultralight versions. To keep that in check, Kingz added the Coolmax® lining near the shoulder area to keep you dry and wick sweat. 

This one too includes the fancy “No-Grip technology.” In the simplest terms, it’s a piece of ultralight ripstop inside sleeves. Mixed with a combination of fabric types, this interesting dual un-fused layer Gives your opponent a tougher time while trying to get a grip. 

The majority of Kingz’ Gi’s come with matching cotton pants. But don’t worry, you can buy the ripstop ones separately. For the Balistico 2.0, the 8 oz polyester/cotton ripstop adds another dimension to the pants.

The Kingz Balistico 3.0 at a Glance

Imagine the Balistico 1.0 but a revamped version that works on all the minor flaws. That’s what the Balistico 3.0 is – a Gi on another level. Even before the Balistico 3.0 was brought into the market, the 1.0 was a superior standalone. Kingz decided to take something already great and polish it to perfection.

If you owned the first model, you can harbor big expectations from this one. It features improved comfort, extended durability, and a better-tapered fit. Not only is this Gi a great pick to withstand the daily beat down from training, but it’s also equally amazing for one-off competitions.

Kingz has added its unique No-Grip sleeve technology. As the name suggests, this addition makes it harder and more uncomfortable for the opponent to establish a grip on the wearer to use it against them. Now, professional BJJ practitioners will love this because this comfortable Gi is IBJJF approved. You can wear it for any competition. The No-Grip technology is undoubtedly a feature that you should take full advantage of.

Jacket

Fabric

Made from 100% cotton, the 480 Pearl Weave jacket is rather well-made. Given its lightweight nature, you would just know it was directed towards the competitors. Here’s where the No-Grip sleeve technology comes into use.

Although the company uses this as a unique selling point, spreading the propaganda that this Gi will Give your competitor a hard time to get a grip, from personal testing, we’ve discovered that’s not always the case. The “No-Grip technology” didn’t seem to add any value to the design; the person in front of you could grab onto you just as easily.

However, the jacket comes with a Coolmax® lining. This is simply ventilation inside the shoulder and shoulder blades. Wearers living and competing in warm, humid climates will find themselves returning to this set all the time.

Design

The slick, minimalistic design is timeless and will look good. Kingz aimed for a more traditional look in this case. You will find one logo on the chest, right below the ribcage, and a small crown between the shoulder blades on the back, and a patch on both shoulders.

We love the simple design since it makes the Gi look nice in most conditions. There’s plenty of space left for affiliation and club patches. According to Kingz, the embroidered logos feature a high stitch count. But if we must say, we don’t generally find any difference between the patches of one Gi to another.

Cut

As the Gi is preshrunk, it’s not supposed to shrink further (technically). But in all honesty, no matter how expensive or “high-quality” a Gi is, it does shrink a little. Remember to refer to the size chart to get a more accurate fit.

While some people are lucky enough to find the perfect size for themselves from the rack, others struggle with either too-big or too-small a size. Moreover, the Gi features good seam taping. 

Pants

Fabric

The pants impress with an 8 oz. polyester ripstop material construction paired with a soft elastic waistband and traditional edging. With a wide finish, the fabric feels very comfortable. Double reinforced knee paddings add durability to the mix. From our experience, this is a good indicator of how long a pair of pants will survive. On top of that, the padding has triple stitching with overlapped seams. 

Design

The pants aren’t the best in the department of fashion, but their clean, sleek color and shape look decent.

Rope Drawstring

There are stretchy drawstrings on the pants with custom Kingz detailing, which is a unique touch. Many people prefer the classic flat drawstrings on their Gi pants since they tend to stay in place better. 

Durability

In the industry of Gi’s, there is this constant tradeoff between weight and durability. Manufacturers struggle to strike the perfect balance. The lighter the Gi, the less durable it naturally gets. Only the brands that manage to get this right deserve top spots. Kingz happens to be one of them.

With the Balistico 3.0, they have found the ideal middle ground. The ripstop pants and the pearl weave jacket are super light but that doesn’t take away from their ruggedness. We would even say the Pearl Weave feels almost like a gold weave – that’s how good the manufacturing is. However, it would be wrong to claim that it will hold up as long as some of the bulkier Gi’s. The small details like double reinforced knee padding and triple reinforced stitching add a touch of lifespan to this pick.

Cost

This Gi is not meant for entry-level practitioners – and the price shows that. Competitors and hobbyists would enjoy this. Although the price tag isn’t excessively lofty, it wouldn’t be right to say it’s cheap or budget-friendly either. However, when you compare the cost to the product you are receiving, the pricing seems reasonable.

According to the brand, they skip out on the glitz and glam. Bling bling isn’t their thing. They believe in plain top-notch gear at competitive prices.

They sell a wide range of products for men and women of all ages. Apart from the sportswear, they also stock hoodies, shirts, spats, and shorts. You can also shop for kids from Fuji – their range is quite impressive. 

From Fuji Sekai to Fuji Sekai 2.0

The Sekai was pretty amazing in itself. But how could a brand stay relevant if it wasn’t constantly developing, reimagining itself? The Fuji Sekai 2.0 was equipped with all the features that made the original unforgettable – the high-quality construction, unparalleled durability, and clever design.

The first model came with a gigantic rubberized world map printed on the inner side of the rash guard, directly linked to the word “Sekai.” This unique embellishment was an homage to the Japanese word for “world” which is, you guessed it: Sekai.

And although their intentions were great, they received some negative reviews about that decision. People found that the texture could occasionally irritate the skin. So, as a development, the Sekai 2.0 featured the world map on the soft shoulder lining.

In addition, Fuji also revamped the aesthetics of Sekai but chose to stay true to their first model. The entire time, their products always had a classic, elegant vibe. They removed the clunky “Sekai” embroidery from the shoulders and added a charming vertical Sekai patch going down the spine. There’s also a matching patch on the upper right-hand sleeve. You will find the quintessential Fuji Kilimanjrao logo in big fonts over the left part of the chest. Cleaning and Maintenance

Fuji Sports was founded by Hatashita back in 1969. Hatashita was a professional in martial arts. Hence, he knew everything about the sport. The brand is currently led by Lia Hatashita and Jimmy Pedro.

Jimmy Pedro brings his visionary sportsmanship to the work of manufacturing sports gear. He utilized his fast-hand experience in making the Fuji gis. This is what makes the Fuji gis more competitive and fitting for all fighters.

Currently, Fuji is manufacturing all types of martial arts gear. From BJJ (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu) Gis to Muay Thai rash guards. These Fui products go through intense testing sessions before approved for mass production. This way, Fuji finds the perfect balance of comfort and durability in their gis. The Fuji All Around is Fuji’s best gi yet. It provides the fighter comfort, durability. The gi can last for a long time and would not tear up.

It is not the branding of the Fuji All Around gi. There are some good reasons why it is the official Gi of Travis Stevens. Travis Stevens is a BJJ Blackbelt, and Olympic Medalist.

Many BJJ organizations around the world have shown their green signs to this gi. It is also certified by the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF).

It is constructed with Fuji’s premium blend cotton and has other durable features. All these features combined will deliver the most comfort a fighter can expect.

Features of The Fuji All Around Gi

Material, quality, sizing, and fighting, design, comfort, and pricing.

Materials

The Gi is made with comfortable cotton fabric. The jacket and the pants both have a 100% cotton blend. No polyester or other fabric is found in this gi.

The cotton fabric is weaved in a twill weave design. As a result, the gi is very strong and also medium dense for the convenience of the player.

The collar of the Gi jacket is lightly rubberized. The jacket has a triple scratch seam for durability and stretch.

So, the material choice of this gi is good. It’s comfortable and durable. But, there is one downside of this cotton material. It will not dry fast. So in an intense fight or hot weather, the Fuji All around gi can become very sweaty and uncomfortable. It will also become very heavy when it gets soaked with your sweat.

Quality

When judging the quality of the Fui All Around Gi, there is nothing to complain about. It has premium cotton fabric construction. The twill weave of this makes it heavier and durable.

Many fighters have a high value for this gi for its durability.

Even after months of intense use, the gi is still in shape and ready for more intense rounds.

The jacket takes this quality level one step further with triple-stitched seams.

However, the cotton build of this gif makes it not a great choice for hot weather and sweaty fights. The cotton will absorb your sweat and the gi will become heavy and uncomfortable.

So, is the Fuji All Around Gi a good gi? Yes, it is. Although it is an entry-level gi, it is used by many IBJJF fighters and it is now the official gi of Travis Stevens, a BJJ Blackbelt.

The gi has everything, durable and comfortable material, plain design, and reinforced stitching. It can last for a long time, even years of intense fighting. It is washable but in cold water. The only downside in our eye is its shrinking fabric and lack of belt loops. One other drawback could be the cotton fabric, which is not an ideal choice in hot weather. But if you are looking for a good gi, then there is something that you must compromise on.

So overall, the Fui All Around Gi is perfect for all BJJ fighters and it is priced well too.

It’s safe to say that there isn’t an MMA/BJJ product Sanabul doesn’t make. You can find literally everything you would need to train and take it to the next level. Now, you came here for their gi’s and that’s what we’re going to get into right now.

Design

The Essentials 2.0 is great for long hours of rolling at the gym. And you can look stylish while doing that. It comes in four different colors: blue, grey, white, and black. We will talk about the material and build more later on but to mention it right now, the compact stitches, reinforced seams, contrast stitching, and rope drawstring combine to give it a very polished appearance. Although the design is quite retro, the tapered athletic cut gives it a modern look. Sanabul cleverly got rid of the extra bulk of material that you would find in a conventional gi.

Fit

Ultralight gi’s don’t usually come preshrunk, so this already makes the Essentials 2.0 a special one. In general, when buying a gi online, your primary concern would be the sizing. The gi primarily depends on the brand and it can be pretty difficult for some people to find a size that perfectly sits on their body. Sanabul recognized this issue and tried to improve its sizing condition. The provided comprehensive size guide paired with the prompt service of the customer service department is a great answer to the question of ill-fitting. 

Regardless of whether you make the purchase directly from their website or their Amazon page, the customer service tries to reply to queries as fast as possible. 

The gi clocks in at about 3.5 lbs. which comfortably lets it sit in the ultralight section. Thanks to the lightness, the gi is perfect for those who have to compete with scales as well. In addition, it’s a good choice for warm or humid conditions where you couldn’t do anything without a lighter gi.

Performance

The Essentials 2.0 is breathable and light; the material feeling soft to touch. Despite being fitted, the pants don’t generally catch.

Featuring rubberized collars paired with lapels, the 2.0 version is a worthy upgrade. Due to that, the opponent will find it harder to establish a strong, controlling grip on the wearer. How? Well, the thick lapels exhaust your arm strength faster, loosening the grips with each passing moment.

The shrinkage is minimal but it’s there – like you would expect from any normal clothing. Plus, it maintains its original color very well, only showing signs of little fraying here and there. Any gi that weighs less than 3 lbs. wouldn’t be as durable as this, so that’s a huge pro.

Care

How tired are you of having to buy gi’s a size or two up because of the annoying shrinkage? Well, no more of that. The Sanabul Essentials V.2 comes preshrunk. You can wash it in cold water before letting it hang dry. A helpful hack for when you ordered too big of a gi is to wash it in hot water and give it some time in the dryer.

What We Didn’t Like

  1. Isn’t IBJF approved: This gi is absolutely brilliant for the price point. However, if you were strictly looking for a competition gi, this isn’t the one. As they don’t meet the IBJJF standards, they cannot be used in any IBJJF regulated competition. But hey! There is always the Sanabul Highlights which is IBJJF approved and ideal for competitions. We will be discussing that too in this Sanabul gi review.
  2. Longevity of the pants: Some customers have complained that the pants wear out much faster than the jacket. Typically, this is what we would expect lightweight gi’s to behave like. They aren’t exactly built for the hustle in the long run. Thus, it could be great if the pants could be purchased separately so you could just shift them out instead of buying a brand new set when needed.
  3. Sizing: Sanabul has had significant progress in creating a more reliable size chart of its customers, but it’s still not perfect. Maybe in a perfect world, you could order a gi online and get it in a fit that feels custom. But with online buys, the hopes aren’t super high. Their specific size chart is only helpful to a certain extent.

In this section of the Sanabul Gi review, we break down the Highlights Gi. No frills and thrills but pure reinforced strength, this gi is a great choice when you want something well-fitting for competitions.

Apart from the construction and design that provides wearers a competitive advantage over the opponent (because they will face a tougher time getting a grip), it’s also IBJJF approved. Training or competitions, it doesn’t getter better than the Highlights Gi.

Fabric

The preshrunk fabric has been woven into a lightweight jacket that’s easy to move around in. But at the same time, it gives a bit more allowance when you need to weigh in before a fight.

Construction

Just because this gi is lightweight doesn’t make it any less reliable. Despite the single weave construction, the reinforced seams coupled with the contrast stitching give double-weaved gi’s a run for their money.

Fit

Bagginess is the last thing you want in your gi. However, most traditional gi’s are somewhat loose and don’t have the best fit. The Sanabul Highlight is a pleasant exception. Keep in mind that the sizing is different from the majority of other brands. We would suggest you get the gi one level larger since these fabrics tend to shrink over washes.

Odor-Free Material

We were super impressed with the anti-microbial feature. Now you can stay fresh and odor-free even after those rigorous hours of action. 

Design

You can get the Highlights gi in five different colors and patterns: white, all white, black, all black, and blue. And though some of the combinations are somewhat bright, the design is still minimalistic. You don’t want to be a walking log of patches.

Price

Sanabul has made us rethink that it’s impossible to get a great gi when you can’t spend a lot. The price could be kept to a minimum due to the single-weave. You don’t have to break the bank for your Jiu-Jitsu anymore.

What We Didn’t Like

  1. No belt: This isn’t a problem for most people because you could just grab a belt separately. However, if we were to be noting meticulously, the addition of a belt could be the cherry on the icing.
  2. Sizing: No surprises here. The same applies to the Essentials 2.0. The sizing is a general problem for gi’s online.

The Final Verdict

Overall, for the amazing and top-notch combat apparel featuring a clean, sophisticated aesthetic, these gi’s are certainly a steal. If you’re wondering whether you should invest in one, we would highly suggest that you do. Sanabul has been in the market for some time now and their products rarely disappoint.
